Food/ Nutrition
Nutrition is the foundation of good health, and diet is the most important component of your pet’s health!!
Our pets are natural hunters and carnivores (meat eaters.) They are equipt with a very short intestinal tract which in turn, allows them to digest meat, not corn based food. Corn is for cows that have two stomachs. Call me crazy.... but do you think that your cute little fluff ball looks like a cow???? NOT... so why would you feed them like you would feed a cow???
Although it is all over the place.. This food that they place on shelves at our local grocery stores... Have you ever looked at the labels??? What is in it?? UGH.... I cringe every time I hear a commercial claiming that "Their" food is nutritional, and provides everything to keep your pet healthy and happy...
The TRUTH is, brace yourself!!! What we are feeding our pets is nothing of the sort. Simply put.. What is in those bags is nothing more than slaughterhouse offal(intestines, udders, and possibly diseased cancerous animal parts) and grains that are plagued with mold and are considered " unfit for human consumption."
That’s the Truth!!!
Now that you have been educated as to what is in the food that they claim to be healthy, and good for your pet. Are you still just going to buy the "Cheap Stuff." or... does your pet deserve more???
How about a more natural way...
Raw food diets!!!! They have been shown to help the body of your pet deal with many common ailments. A couple being...
1) Hot spots
2) poor dental health
3) flea infestations
4) intestinal
Now doesn’t that sound like it is worth it for your pets health??

Above is an awesome site with a lot of information on Raw Diets
check it out!!!! so much to learn....
If a full Raw diet scares you, or you don’t think you have the time. I also use "All Natural Holistic" foods or dry kibble.
Here at Stone Kennels we feed an awesome food called "Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover’s Soul." we also feed our puppies "Chicken Soup for the Puppy lover’s Soul." We have had great satisfaction with this brand and also suggest it to our new puppy owners!!! http://www.chickensoupforthepetloverssoul.com/
That isn’t where it stops.... We also add fresh veggies, fruits, and a meat(usually chicken) plus "The Missing Link" to their breakfast. So, as you see... even with an All Natural Holistic food you still need to add these other elements to their diet..

Pet Vaccinations
The Truth
This section of information may shock you !!!
We have been lied to over the years by the people we trust most when it comes to caring for our pets....Veterinarians ......
The truth !!! Is that all these shots that they(our vets) say our pets need.... Is just not so !!!!!!!!!!
Vaccinations cause great stress on the immune system, and can cause side-effect and allergic reactions not to mention long term chronic diseases. Such as these:
1) skin allergies
2) arthritis
3)neurological conditions
a) aggressive behaviors
b) epilepsy
c) cancer
Vaccinations do help prevent serious illnesses , but need to be used with restraints.
Puppies should NOT be vaccinated until they are at least 12 weeks of age. It is good to wait until the maternal anti-bodies have worn off(this happens around 11-16 weeks of age) At 12 weeks give one (1) shot against Distemper, followed by a Parvovirus vaccination at 16 weeks. That’s it!!!! Nothing more than that. When your puppy reaches six (6) months old give the Rabies vaccination. Some states require it sooner, so check what your state laws are and follow that.
DO NOT get boosters.... Studies have shown that a single vaccination results in long-term protection from disease.
Homeopathic Nosodes are an alternative some pet owners use when choosing NOT to vaccinate.
http://www.shirleys-wellness-cafe.com/nosodes.htm
Once again.... check out this site for details!!!
NEVER vaccinate a sick or weak animal. Do NOT vaccinate any dog over 8 years of age.
Above all!!!! Educate Yourself!!!!
Your Veterinarian can NOT make this decision for you.... and nor should they !! This is YOUR pet, and it is your responsibility to give them the best care you can.
All Natural cleaning products
This section is short but sweet!!!!
Vinegar/water....... half and half solution!!!! That is all you need to keep your pets area clean!!!! PLEASE do NOT use anything on floors that contain Bleach.... Our pets walk on this, then clean their paws, thus licking off the bleach... PLEASE... vinegar/water is enough!!!!
All Natural Grooming Products!!!!
Shampoo....
Here is an easy recipe to make your own shampoo!!!!
Take a bowl and add one full cup of an all natural liquid dish soap. This will form the base your homemade dog shampoo, and help loosen dirt and other particulate matter from the animal’s fur. You want one that is advertised as being very gentle, in addition to being all natural. Seventh Generation is a favorite among dog owners, but Ecover, Dove, Ivory, or Dial would also work well. A dog’s skin is just as sensitive as a human’s, and you want to avoid anything that could irritate it.
Step2Add one full cup of water and mix well. This will thin out the homemade dog shampoo so its effects will not be as harsh on the skin. Do not stir too vigorously, otherwise you will beat the mixture into a lather, which will make it much more difficult to work with and mix thoroughly. Feel free to add more water if you need to dilute the chemicals further for particularly sensitive skin.
Step3Add one full cup of apple cider vinegar and mix. This acts like a deodorant in your homemade dog shampoo. It works to give your pet’s coat
a lustrous shine, and will also work to keep fleas away. It also ensures that there is no soap residue left in the fur once you rinse everything away. The best part about the vinegar is that it helps prevent the wet dog smell that most people find so terrible.
Step4Add 1/3 cup of glycerin and mix well. Many soaps use glycerin as their base, including most handmade varieties. Its primary use in your homemade dog shampoo is to coat the fur and help it retain moisture. It also keeps the product rich and luxurious. You want to pamper your pet, don’t you?
Step5Pour the completed homemade dog shampoo into an empty bottle and store for later use. Just give it a good shake before each use to mix the glycerin back into the finished product.
